Automatic recordings are included in OpenPhone’s Business and Enterprise plans. To set up automatic call recording, follow these instructions from our web or desktop app:
1. Go to "Phone Numbers" in your Workspace settings.
2. Select the phone number where you want all calls to be recorded (your team's shared number, for example).
3. Scroll down, and hit the "Auto-record calls" switch.
Note: You’ll need to have Admin permissions in your OpenPhone account to turn on this setting,
It’s best to let callers know their phone call is being recorded at the very beginning of their call. You can include this disclaimer in your phone menu greeting before callers speak with anyone at your company, or one of your team members can inform callers at the beginning of each call. We recommend adhering to the standards outlined in two-party consent laws, which are designed to protect your company from consent violations no matter where calls originate. Automatic call recordings are saved in OpenPhone as long as your account is active and you maintain that phone number in your workspace. Whenever you record phone calls, we want you and your team to have easy access to these calls and transcriptions in the future.
Yes. If you wish to download any of your automatic call recordings, click “...” next to that recording, and then select “Download.”
You can play back automatic call recordings within the OpenPhone app on web, desktop, or within any Android / iOS mobile device. Simply select a specific conversation which contains a phone call recording, and then play back that recording via the play button.
If you want to record calls for personal use in your Android phone, you have multiple options:
1. Use the native Google phone app in your Android device (most Android phones have a native recording feature)
2. Use a third-party Android app (like Cube ACR or TapeACall Pro)
If you want to record calls in an iPhone, you’ll have to download a third-party app from the App Store because Apple doesn’t offer a native call recording app.
While using a native call recording app may be fine for personal use, it doesn’t cut it for business communications. That’s why you need a business phone system like OpenPhone.
